Videoconferencing with Sutton Grammar School

Last year I was awarded a fellowship by the Ministry of Education to spend two weeks at Sutton Grammar School. It was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had as a teacher. Now, from this blog, I would like to thank Mrs Christiane Hall, my tutor, and all the teachers and staff in this school for giving me this great opportunity.

As a result of this experience, this year my 14-year-old students have made contacts with my tutor's students through letters and videoconferencing. In the video below you can see how much students enjoy this activity.

This is me!

During this term, the students have done a good job for their Speaking exam. They were asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation on Google Drive about themselves following the instructions given by the English teacher as a part of the exam. Here you can see two good examples of them.

CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN WITH MY NEW STUDENTS!!!!

On October 30, as is now traditional, the English Department organized a contest to celebrate Halloween. Students were asked to design a comic or a poster and carve a pumpkin.  I also encouraged my 3º ESO students to take part in a mini contenst  among themselves.
Thanks to Des, our English assistant, the following prizes were given, as shown in the pictures below.

THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST!!!

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

GOT THE QUALITY LABELS ONCE MORE!!

Good news for those who took part in the eTwinning project EVERYDAY SITUATIONS. We have been awarded the National and European Quality Labels for the excellence of the work in our project. This means that our work, students and teachers, has been recognised at the highest European level.

CONGRATULATIONS, TEAMS!!!

Yesterday I attended a seminar on eTwinning projects in Mérida and I was invited as a speaker to inform about our project.

I met D. Carlos Javier Medina Bravo (Jefe de Servicio de Proyectos Europeos del Instituto Nacional de Tecnologías Educativas y de Formación del Profesorado)Ignacio Casado and Anette Westerop (SNA Servicio Nacional de Apoyo).

I was also so delighted to have seen Francisco Miguel García Barroso, a former student of mine, who works as an English teacher and works closely with eTwinning as an ambassador in Extremadura.

OUR HUGE ENGLISH POSTER

Let's start a new school year: 2015/16. I really hope my 3rd year Secondary School and 2nd year sixth-form students learn a lot and enjoy the English lessons.
Here is the big board we have on the 3º ESO D classroom wall. Apart from those posters designed by myself, the letters on it were chosen from the best ones created by the students.
